Welcome to the East End Drawing Trail. There’s 16 drawings in total, originally drawn in the streets of Adelaide’s East End in 1995 by Adelaide local Nicole Stewart. Now you can find them stuck, wrapped and hung through those same streets.

Use the map here to navigate through the streets and read a little more about each on the drawing pages.

The Artist –

Nicole Stewart

Drawn in 1995 by Adelaide local, Nicole Stewart, they were exhibited at the Austral in 1996 and then available as postcards.

I drew this series when I was a fresh design graduate. I’d just returned from some incredible overseas adventures where I’d been drawing a lot of the place I’d travelled - Indian temples, Esfahan mosques, Petra ruins. Coming back to Adelaide I think I saw these familar streets with fresh eyes and more home-town affection.

Today I look at them with a lot of nostalgia. Not just for my twenties but for a time that wasn’t digital. I like that these drawings can be part of the record of these ‘analogue’ times.

Discover The Trail

Wander back in time through Adealaide’s East End with these original drawings from the nineties, now wrapped, stuck hung in the same streets where they were drawn,

There’s also original location footpath markers which take you to the original drawings and some extra info.

The trail begins at Ebenezer Place and ends at The Exeter where you’ll be happy to know, things haven’t changed a bit.
